Upcycled: DIY Miniature Disco Ball

Whether it’s for a birthday party, a little at home dance party or just to add a little bling to a bedroom, the glint of a disco ball is hard to resist. This DIY mini disco ball is a quick craft that will appeal to kids and adults alike and is a great way to reuse that stack of old CD’s you have cluttering your desk. If the kids are tackling this craft be sure to use low temp glue sticks and glue gun so they don’t burn little fingers.

Difficulty level: easy to moderate
Time required: 10 minutes

Things you’ll need:
Old CD’s
Kitchen shears or heavy duty scissors
Hot glue gun and glue sticks
Ornament ball
Silver paint

Things to do:
1. On a covered work surface, paint the inside of the ornament with silver paint and allow it to dry.

2. While the paint is drying, cut the CD up into small squares, discarding the center of the CD but keeping the angled edges to fill in gaps.

3. Push the two sides of the ornament together and start by gluing a row of squares around the seam.

4. Fill in the remaining spaces with more squares, adding smaller angles spaces as needed to fill in as much of the area as possible.
5. String ribbon or wire through the ornament top to hang the disco ball.
