How to Make a Sequin Ball Ornament

Sparkling ornaments don’t have to be reserved for the holidays! Yes, you can display them then, but this styrofoam sequin ball ornament is perfect in school or team colors, or to match your decor. Display it year “round!

Difficulty level: Easy
Time required: 2 hours
Age range: 8+ (younger kids will need help with hot glue gun)

Things you’ll need:
Styrofoam ball
Sequins
Sequin pins
Rocaille beads
12″ of narrow grosgrain ribbon
Hot glue gun and hot glue

Things to do:
1. Place a rocaille bead on one of the sequin pins.

2. Next, place a cup sequin on the pin, with the cupped side facing the bead.

3. Stick the loaded” pin into the styrofoam ball.

4. Continue completing steps 1-3 for the next several sequins. When pinning, make sure they slightly overlap the adjacent sequins so the styrofoam won’t peek through too much – it’s hard to completely avoid seeing the styrofoam, but it won’t be too noticeable if the sequins are overlapping somewhat.

5. Continue around the entire ball.

6. Warm up your hot glue gun. Create a loop from the 12″ of ribbon, and glue the short ends together.

7. Pull out one of the sequins and hot glue the ribbon loop to the top of the ball. Pin the sequin back in place over the ribbon. Hang your ornament and watch it sparkle!
