School Time Pencil Wreath

Pencil_Wreath
Nothing says fall quite like school supplies, am I right? Maybe it’s the former teacher in me but I love to see big boxes of pencils, markers and crayons all piled up and just waiting for the first day of school. Pencils, with their bright orangey-yellow, are my favorite and this year I bought far, far more than we could ever use. And while I already have them bunched together in a tub on my desk, just waiting for homework, I also decided to use some to make this back to school sunburst wreath. If you have an extra box of pencils or ten hanging around your house, this is a great project to liven up your house for fall and get you in the back to school spirit!

Things you need:
90-100 un-sharpened pencils
Super glue
12″ flat wreath form
Yellow paint

Things to do:
1. Lay your wreath on a large, flat surface. The finished wreath will be quite large so make sure you have plenty of room for the pencils to go all the way around.
2. Paint the wreath form with a layer of yellow paint. It doesn’t have to be thick or even a perfect match for the pencils, just a good base coat to fill in the gaps a little.

3. Mark your pencils 1/3 inch from the un-sharpened end. This will be your guide for gluing.
4. Drop two small dots of glue on the wreath form and line the mark on your pencil up with the inner edge of the wreath. Hold for a few seconds. Line the next pencil up and splay it out slightly before dabbing glue under it as well. Continue to line up and glue your pencils until you are all the way around.
