Kid Friendly: Quick and Easy Pom Pom Ornaments


Pom pom ornaments are perfect and inexpensive ways to decorate your family tree. Here are three different ornaments to try – a wreath, a candy cane, and a snowman. Sewing up through the center of each pom pom will help it keeps its shape.

Time required: 30-60 minutes
Age range: 10+

Things you’ll need:
Craft pom poms
Pipe cleaner
Bumpy pipe cleaner
Bitty google eyes
Glitter bow
Hot glue gun and hot glue sticks
Needle and thread

Things to do:
1. Set aside 7 green, medium pom poms. Thread your needle and knot the end. Slide it up into one of the pom poms.

2. Continue until all pom poms are on the thread.

3. Arrange the pom poms into a circle and tie and clip your thread. Use hot glue between each pom pom to keep it together.

4. Glue a glitter bow to the wreath.

5. Use 4 white and 4 medium red pompoms and thread them together with your needle and thread.

6. Cut a piece of pipe cleaner and form it into a cane. Glue this to the back of your candy cane so it will hold its shape.

7. Glue each pom pom together to finish the ornament.

8. For the snowman, use a medium and a large pom pom. Cut a piece of pipe cleaner and fold it around the smaller pom pom to determine the correct size, and twist as shown.

9. Glue this to the top of the small pom pom.

10. Thread the needle and thread up through the large pom pom and the small one.

11. Tie off the thread, glue the two pom poms together and wrap and glue the bumpy pipe cleaner around the snowman’s neck” as shown.

12. Glue the small google eyes to the top pom pom. To hang these ornaments from the tree, simply thread your needle through the top of each, make loops, and tie and clip the ends!
