Looking for a rainy day activity to do with kids? This project is simple and teaches weaving skills! Let your little ones choose their favorite colors of felt and experiment with different combinations.
Difficulty level: Beginner
Time to complete: 15 minutes
Age range: 8 and up
Things you’ll need:
Felt
Scissors
Things to do:
1. The first step is cutting out your felt pieces. Fold your felt sheet in half and cut a rectangle that measures 1.5 inches wide and roughly 3 inches long. Round the end of the shape. Use your first felt piece as a pattern and cut out another in a different color.
2. Cut three slits down your felt pieces, stopping roughly 1 inch from the end of the shape.
3. Lay your felt pieces in a “V” shape and begin weaving the strips together. The patterns should alternate – Over, through, over, through and Through, over, through, over.
4. When all the pieces have been woven together, spread them out evenly.
