How to Make a Summer-Time Felt Watermelon Wreath

Age range: 10+

Things you’ll need:
2 pink felt sheet
2 green felt sheets
1 red felt sheet
1 brown felt square
Styrofoam wreath
Fabric glue
Scissors
Cotton twine
Rotary cutter and mat **optional

Things to do:
1. Cut the green felt into 1″-wide pieces that are 11 inches long each. You’ll have 18 pieces.

2. Cut 18 pieces of pink felt and 9 pieces of red, all 1″ wide.

3. Make a mark on both sides of your wreath, a little more than half-way down. The top of the wreath (the larger half) will contain the pink and red pieces of felt, and the lower part will contain the green felt. Tie on the first piece of green felt in the bottom portion.

4. Continue with all 18 pieces.

5. Start tying the pink and red pieces on the upper half, interspersing the red felt throughout.

6. This is what the wreath looks like when all the tying is complete.

7. Trim the pieces of felt on the inside (and outside if desired) to make it neater.

8. Cut a few pieces of brown felt into seed-like shapes.

9. Glue the “seeds” onto the pink felt with fabric glue. Tie a piece of string to the top for hanging.
