Give a warm summer greeting to your favorite family member or friend. Creating this watermelon card is fun for older children who can safely use a hot glue gun with guidance. They’ll have fun writing a personal message!
Difficulty level: Easy
Time required: 30 minutes
Age range: 10+
Things you’ll need:
Pink buttons
Red and green buttons
Scissors
Hot glue gun
Hot glue sticks
Card stock
Marker
Pencil
Things to do:
1. Fold the card stock in half to form a card. Draw a watermelon shape in one corner, as shown. You’ll want to take a “bite” out of the watermelon! Warm up your hot glue gun.
2. Start gluing the green buttons along the bottom of the watermelon shape.
3. Glue the pink and red buttons in the center of the watermelon.
4. Cover the inside with a single layer of buttons.
5. Add another layer of buttons on top, to fill in the gaps. Write (or have your child write) a greeting on the card and give to your favorite person!
