DIY Stars and Stripes Patriotic Wreath

This sweet and simple DIY is the perfect patriotic project to dress up your front door on the 4th of July!

Difficult level: Beginner
Time to complete: 15 Minutes
Age range: 12 and Up

Things you’ll need:
Styrofoam wreath form
Tin stars
Foam brush
Red acrylic paint
Striped red ribbon
Wire
Wire cutters
Hot glue gun and glue sticks

Things to do:
1. Use a foam brush to paint the entire surface of your wreath form red. Use thick layers of paint to make sure the paint soaks into the surface and covers all of the white.

2. Next, start attaching your tin stars. Apply a generous layer of hot glue on the back of your star and press it firmly onto the center of the wreath. Hold it in place for a few seconds to make sure it sticks.

3. Cut a length of ribbon and tie a bow.
4. String a 5-inch piece of wire through the center of the bow and press the ends through the top of your wreath form.

5. Twist the ends of the wire together, securing your bow and creating a loop to hang your wreath from.

DIY Beachy Crushed Seashell Mason Jar Luminary

The beachy-looking mason jar is coated with crushed shells and would fabulous at your beach or lake home – or anywhere you’d like to bring a little bit of summer indoors!

Difficulty level: Easy
Time required: 3-4 hours
Age range: 10+

Things you’ll need:
Crushed sea shells
Mod Podge
Mason jar
Hemp twine
Paint brush
Paper plate

Things to do:
1. Apply a thick coat of Mod Podge to one quarter of your mason jar. You’ll want a thick coat to hold the shells in place.

2. Sprinkle the crushed shells onto the paper plate.

3. Pour some shells onto the jar, pressing them into the heavy coat of Mod Podge. You’ll need to individually place some shell fragments onto the jar, and be sure to apply an even coat. If the shells are stacked on top of each other, they’ll fall off.

4. Allow this side of the jar to dry for an hour or so, then repeat with another quarter of the jar. The first side should be dry first before rotating the jar to add crushed shells to another section.

5. Wrap a piece of twine around the top a few times and tie in place.
