DIY Printed Burlap Table Runner

Show thanks this season and combine primitive decor with some modern whimsy. This hashtag “Thanks” burlap table runner will show your appreciation while giving the kids something to smile about.

Difficulty level: Easy
Time required: 1-2 hours (allows for drying time)
Age range: 10+

Things you’ll need:
Jute burlap runner
Stencils
Black acrylic paint
Large stencil brush
Scissors
Newspaper

Things to do:
1. Remove the centers from the letters for THANKS,” as well as the hash tag symbol. Cut your runner to fit the length of your table, with about 12″ of overhang on each side.

2. Lay out some newspaper under your runner. Place your stencils on the jute runner carefully. The letters will fit, but you’ll have to lay them out in advance in order to avoid having them trail off the right side by accident!

3. Use the stencil brush to pounce” the black paint into the open areas of the letters and the hash tag.

4. Allow this side to dry, and repeat for the other short end. Drape on your autumn-themed table!

Difficulty level: Easy
Time required: 30 minutes plus dry time

Things you’ll need:
Faux fall leaves
Mason jars
Mod Podge
Foam brush
Plastic Wrap

Things to do:
1. Lay out a piece of plastic wrap a little wider than the height of the jar.

2. Paint the surface of the jar on one side and press a layer of leaves onto the glued surface, coating the leaves with a thin layer of Mod Podge as you add them.
3. Lay it on the plastic wrap, leaves down and add more leaves around the jar, layering Mod Podge and leaves until the surface of the jar is covered.
4. Pull the plastic wrap tightly around the jar to hold the leaves onto the surface.

5. Allow the glue to dry for a few days and then carefully peel the plastic wrap off of the jars. Apply one more coat of Mod Podge to seal.
