Things you’ll need:
Recycled soda bottle
Sharpie marker
Scissors
Craft knife
Spray paint
Black paint pen
Purple paint pen
Things to do:
- Remove the labels from the recycled soda bottle. You may not be able to get then entire sticky part off, but that’s ok.
- Using a Sharpie, draw two ears and a tail on the bottle, then connect them with a line around the circumference of the bottle. Don’t worry about being too perfect with your drawing. You can always clean up uneven lines later.
- When you finish drawing, insert a craft knife into one of the straight lines to puncture the bottle. Make a cut long enough that you can fit your scissors inside.
- Insert scissors through the opening created by the craft knife, then cut along the lines you drew.
- When you’re finished, use the scissors to clean up any uneven lines. Tip: If you’d like, you can also cut out small holes in the bottom of the planter for drainage.
- Spray paint the soda bottle. We recommend two coats of spray paint, allowing the paint to dry between coats. Spray paint the inside and outside to help hide the lines from the marker.
- Using a black paint pen, draw eyes, whiskers, and a mouth on the bottle.
- Using a purple paint pen, draw a heart-shaped nose. Fill in the ears with purple triangles.
- Place a plant inside the planter.
