Forget your usual friendship bracelets and instead braid a couple of these simple, pretty bracelets for all your friends this summer.

Age range: 12 and up, with adult supervision using the craft knife

Things you’ll need:
Suede Leather Remnant Scraps
Craft knife
Ruler
Self-healing cutting mat
Pen
Awl
Purple Satin Rattail Cord
Scissors

Things to do:
1. Using the craft knife, cut a leather scrap to 1.5″ wide and 1/2 ” longer than the desired length of your bracelet.

2. Using a marking tool, mark a horizontal line across each end of the bracelet 1″ from the edge.

3. Mark a vertical line 1/2 ” from one edge of the long edge.

4. Mark a second vertical line 1/2 ” from the first vertical line.

5. Using the craft knife, cut two slits in the bracelet using the vertical lines as guides.

6. Slide the bottom of the leather through the right slit. Pull it through the slit. (Don’t worry about straightening anything or trying to neaten the strands right now. You can do that later.)

7. Braid the left strand over the center strand.

8. Braid the right strand over the center strand.

9. Braid the left strand over the center strand.

10. Slide the bottom through the left slit. Pull it through the slit.

12. Braid the left strand over the center strand.

13. Braid the right strand over the center strand.

14. Slide the bottom of the leather through the right slit. Pull it through the slit.

15. Repeat steps 7-10.

16. Straighten the braid, making sure the wrong side of the leather is all facing the same direction. You may find it easiest to just twist individual strands, then rearrange them to make the braid even.

17. Using an awl, punch one hole in the center of each end.

18. Cut an 20″ length of cord. Thread cord through each hole, then tie to join the bracelet.
