DIY Glitter Ribbon Gift Wrapping

Have you even wrapped a package, ready to give, only to find that you have not a scrap of ribbon in the house? It happens, even to those of us who are craft hoarders. Or maybe the ribbon you have isn’t quite the right match for your gift recipients. Fear not! All you need is a little tape and some glitter and you’ll have something even better than plain old ribbon for your gift.

Difficulty level: Easy
Time required: Less than 5 minutes

Things you’ll need:
Clear tape
Glitter
Wrapped gift

Things to do:
1. With your tape upside down (so the sticky side is up) wrap a strip around your package first one way and then the other to create a traditional ribbon wrapped look. Make sure the places where the tape crosses is well stuck together.

2. On a covered work surface, generously sprinkle glitter over the tape, making sure it’s well covered.
3. Tap off any excess glitter from the paper before giving.

DIY Cookie Cutter Bird Feeders

As the leaves fall from the trees and the temperatures get colder and colder, the birds in your yard are going to be looking for tasty morsels to keep them going through the winter. These bird feeders offer up seeds and fats to keep the birds healthy through the long cold months in sweet shapes made with your favorite cookie cutters.

Difficulty level: Easy, but requires the use of a stove and heat, not for unsupervised children.
Time required: 30 minutes

Things you’ll need:
Coconut oil
Cookie cutters
Birdseed
Foil
Pot and access to a stove
Spoon
Plate or tray
Skewer
Ribbon

Things to do:
1. Wrap the bottom and sides of each cookie cutter tightly in a double layer or foil to prevent the mixture from seeping out the sides.

2. Gently melt 1 part coconut oil with 1 part birdseed.
3. Pour the mixture into the cookie cutters and set them on a tray to harden.

4. Once the mixture is almost all the way hard, insert the skewer in near the top to make a hole for hanging.

5. When the mixture is all the way hard, dip the edges of the cookie cutter in warm water for a few seconds to loosen it and slide the seed shapes out.
6. Cut lengths of ribbon and thread through, tying at the top before hanging in the trees for the birds.
