How to Make a Rope Keychain

Add a little flair to your keys with a few supplies you probably already have at home. Mix and match different colors of embroidery floss.

Difficulty level: Beginner
Time required: 1 hour
Age range: 8+

Things you’ll need:
Twine
Embroidery floss
Key ring

Things to do:
1. Cut a length of rope and fold it in half.

2. Tie a knot of embroidery floss around the twine, near the unfolded end.

3. Wrap the floss around the rope until it gets to the desired length and weave the end back in.

4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 for the remaining colors.

5. Fray the ends of the rope by pulling apart the strands.

6. Put the keychain on the loop end of the rope and tie it in a knot.

Sew some teabags for the next tea party. This project is a perfect scrap buster project.

Difficulty level: Intermediate
Time required: 1 hour
Age range: 8+

Things you’ll need:
Fabric
Bakers twine
Stuffing
Thread
Sewing machine
Template

Things to do:
1. Cut the teabag and the label pieces.

2. Fold the teabag in half, with the right sides together.

3. Leaving the top open, sew up both sides.

4. Flip the teabag right side. Be sure to poke the corners out.

5. Repeat steps 2-4 for the label.

6. Cut a length of bakers twine, insert one end in the top of the teabag, and sew the top shut along the top line.

7. Insert the other end of the twine in the open end of the label and sew the label shut.
