Upcycle: Make Your Own Teacup Candles


This DIY looks exactly like a candle you would find at a luxury home goods store. In just a few easy steps, you can create a unique candle for your home without spending a lot of money. Choose from a variety of beautiful teacups or other glass containers to create a dreamy candle that you’re sure to love!

Things you’ll need:
Teacups
Wicks
Candle Scent
Eyedropper
Concentrated Candle Dye
Grater
Scissors
Funnel
Wax
Pot for Melting Wax

Things to do:
1. The first step is melting the candle wax. Melt the wax over a lower heat on your stovetop. I like to set my stovetop at “4.” Once the wax becomes a smooth liquid, grate some concentrated candle dye into the pot and stir it around. The candle dye will subtly change the shade of the wax, making it unique and fun!


2. Place the wick into the bottom of the teacup or glass container. Pour a small amount of wax into the cup and let it harden slightly so that it will hold the wick in place. You want the wick to be at the center of the cup so the wax candle will burn evenly.

3. Fill the teacup with wax until it is almost full.

4. Once you’ve filled the teacup with wax, add a few drops of candle scent and allow the wax to harden. If the surface of the candle is uneven, you can pour a second layer of wax across the top until it creates a flat surface.

Fireworks in a Jar


It’s a lot of work to plan and prepare a party for all of your friends. Hours are spent cooking and cleaning to ensure everything is perfect. The next time your invited to a BBQ or picnic, how about taking the host a little gift to let them know you appreciate all of their hard work. This summer themed decoration is the perfect gift for the one hosting the big summer bash! They’re sure to enjoy the beautiful decor and delicious fireball candies for weeks to come. Say thanks in a creative and festive way that is sure to communicate your appreciation in a personal fashion.

Difficulty level: Beginner
Time to complete: 10 Minutes
Age range: All ages. *Children under 10 may need assistance.

Things you’ll need:
Mason jar with a lid
Fabric with a print of your choice
Glue
Marker
Scissors
Tape measure
Ribbon in complimentary color
Fireball candies or other hard candies

Things to do:
1: Measure the diameter of your jar and cut a strip of fabric, adding a half inch in length. For the jar I chose, my fabric measured 12 1/2 inches x 3 1/2 inches.

2: Place fabric around the jar and glue the ends together to create a festive covering. Let the glue sit for several minutes, or until completely dry to ensure it stays in place.


3: Trace the circumference of the lid onto a piece of fabric and cut it out. Glue the fabric onto the lid, making sure the edges are glued down securely.



4: Tie a piece of ribbon around the neck of the jar.

5: Fill with candies and admire your adorable and creative masterpiece!
