Everybody loves to hear birdsong in their garden, even fairies! Especially fairies! So of course you’ll need a few birdhouses for your fairy garden! These sweet little birdhouses take advantage of a fall staple, acorns! Be sure to seal with a clear coat if you will be using these outdoors.
Difficulty level: Moderate
Time required: 10 minutes plus dry time
Things you’ll need:
Acorns
Acrylic paint
Fine paintbrush
Large screw
Dowel rods
Things to do:
1. First you’ll need to drill your hole. Because acorns are so small, it’s difficult to drill into them safely but you can achieve the same thing using a large screw. Firmly twist the screw into the bottom of the scorn, right on the tip, until you have a hole that goes about 1/3 of the way through the acorn.
2. Using your paintbrush, carefully paint just the nut of the acorn. Allow the paint to dry and then apply a second coat.
3. Once the paint is dry, use the end of the paintbrush to paint a dot on the nut with a darker paint to create the hole”.
4. Press the end of the dowel or skewer into the hole on the bottom of the nut to finish the birdhouse.
