Wax Paper Crayon Window Gift Tags

One of my favorite “little kid” crafts over the years has always been melting crayon shavings between wax paper. It never fails to amaze the kids and, let’s be honest, it’s pretty awesome for the adults as well. And while it’s fun to hang the results in windows or cut pretty shapes out of it, here’s a fun project to share the pretty results with others.

Difficulty level: Easy
Time required: 15 minutes

Things you’ll need:
Wax paper
Scrap paper
Crayons
Grater
Window tags
Glue stick
Iron
Scissors

Things to do:
1. Grate the crayons over one of the sheets of wax paper, wax side up.

2. Place another sheet, wax side down.
3. Place the two sheets between layers of scrap paper and iron briefly with a low iron, just until the crayon melts.
4. Allow the wax paper and crayon art to cool completely.

5. Cut pieces of the art just larger than the windows on the tags.
6. Using your glue stick, apply a thin layer of glue to the back side of the tag (lying open) and press the piece of wax paper in and then close the tag so that the glue around the edge secures it.

7. Allow the glue to dry before using.
