DIY Sparkly Cat Ear Kid’s Headband

Be warned: your workspace is about to be turned into a sparkly glitter zone! Create this glittery headband along with your favorite glitter-lovin’ crafter.

Difficulty level: Beginner
Time required: 45 minutes
Age range: 8 and up, with adult supervision for hot glue gun

Things you’ll need:
Black Plastic Headband
Hot glue gun and glue sticks
Scissors
White felt
Purple Sparkle Tulle Netting
Silver Sparkle Tulle Netting
Ruler
Marking tool

Things to do:
1. Cut two 10″ lengths of silver tulle and one 10″ length of purple tulle.

2. Gather the length of purple tulle so that it’s a long, narrow strip.

3. Wrap the purple tulle around the center of the headband, then tie the tulle in a knot.

4. Repeat Steps 2-3, adding one length of silver tulle on each side of the center purple tulle strip.

5. Using a marking tool, draw a freeform diamond onto the white felt. Alternatively, you can use a diamond template or use a ruler to make sure your lines are neat and straight.

6. Cut out the felt cat ear, then draw and cut out a second matching cat ear.

7. Place one ear under the headband beside the tulle.

8. Using hot glue, glue the ear in place by outlining the edges of the ear with hot glue. Be careful to keep the tulle out of the way so that you don’t get hot glue on it.

9. Use your fingers to press the edges of the ear together.

10. Press the ear onto the headband, so that the ear sticks to the top. This will help the ear stick up.

11. Repeat steps 7-10 with the second felt ear.

12. Optional: Using scissors, trim the tulle to the desired height.
