I have a little boy who loves maps. Maps, maps, all over the walls. Some he likes to dream about, some mark the places where he has travelled, some he just wonders at. To help him in his map love, I made him a set of these fun and colorful map flags which he loves. Created with Washi tape, these are quick and simple to make and a bright addition to any map lovers wall.

Difficulty level: easy
Time required: less than five minutes

Things you’ll need:
Washi tape
Sewing pins
Scissors

Things to do:
1. Cut a few inches of tape from the roll.

2. Fold the tape in half over the shaft of the pin, butted up toward the ball of the pin, so that the edges line up.

3. Trim the ends of the tape into flags, ready to use.

Gold Color Block Grapevine Balls

These gold color-blocked grapevine balls add a little glitz or your rustic table or mantle display without bringing in bright colors that might clash. Gold, or alternatively copper, paint is a natural pairing with the warm browns of the grapevine and takes the rustic style of them up a notch, perfect for fall and winter holidays.

Difficulty level: Easy
Time required: 20 minutes plus dry time

Things you’ll need:
Grapevine balls
Paint brush
Gold craft paint
Masking tape

Things to do:
1. Tape off half of your grapevine balls using the masking tape, be sure to get a good, straight line all the way around the circle.

2. Paint thin coats of gold paint on the exposed section of the grapevine balls, being sure to get all the small bits of vine. Allowing for dry time between layers, continue to paint coats until the section of grapevine is well coated.
3. Allow the paint to dry and then remove the tape before displaying.
