Upcycle: Turn Old Jars into Glitter Lined Votive Candle Holders

In the depths of winter, or heck, even on the brightest day, there’s nothing like a little sparkly glitter to make the day just that much better. These glitter lined votives may look plain on the outside, but the sparkly lining inside reflects the candle light for a extra magical look. Perfect for a special dinner or a romantic mantle-scape, these are shiny and bright and oh so fun.

Difficulty level: easy
Time required: 15 minutes plus dry time.

Things you’ll need:
Jars
Flat white paint
Paint brush
Craft glue
Glitter

Things to do:
1. On a covered work surface paint the outside of each jar with two or three coats of white paint, enough to cover the glass with a solid coat. Allow each coat to dry before adding the next and allow the final coat to harden completely before proceeding.

2. Paint the inside of the jars with a thin coat of craft paint, you don’t want the glue to be too heavy or it will slide down as it dries, add just enough glue for the glitter to cling.

3. Pour a generous amount of glitter into the jars and quickly, before the glue dries, roll the jar around so that the glitter covered the entire inside.

4. Allow the glitter to dry completely before adding a candle and lighting.
