Things you’ll need:
Paper
Scissors
Glue stick
Jute
Ruler
Paper to make pattern
Pen or marker

Things to do:
1. The first step is creating a triangle pattern for your flags. Because you will be cutting out so many, having a pattern is helpful, ensuring they remain consistent in size and shape. Using your ruler, draw a rectangle that measures 4×4 1/2″ onto the paper. Measure two inches into the top of the rectangle and mark the center with a pen. Complete your triangle by using your ruler to connect the bottom corners to the center mark at the top. Cut out your finished pattern.

2. Once you have created your pattern, measure your space and cut a piece of jute.

3. Trace your triangle pattern onto the paper of your choice. Try experimenting with a variety of colors and patterns or even alternative materials, such as a map, fabric or burlap. Once you’ve traced the pattern with a pencil, cut out the triangle.

4. Draw a line 1/2″ from the top of your triangle and crease along the line.
5. Put glue on the inside of the flap and fold over your piece of jute. Trim the excess off of the triangles for a neat look.

6. Repeat steps 3-5, placing flags 8 inches apart until the entire length of jute is filled.
