Clothespin Mermaids

I don’t know very many kids who aren’t fascinated by mermaids and for good reason, they are pretty amazing as far as magical creatures go. These little clothespin mermaids are fun to make and even more exciting to add to your daily dose of play. Look for paint, craft foam and fabric that match or look good together and make a whole family of mer-people!

Time required: 20 minutes plus dry time
Difficulty level: Easy

Things you need:
Round clothespins
Blue acrylic paint or other colors of your choice
Royal blue craft foam sheet or other colors of your choice
Fabric scraps
Scissors
Paintbrushes
Craft glue

Things to do:
1. Paint the clothespin from the split down with a color of paint that closely matches your craft foam and allow the paint to dry.

2. Cut fins from the craft foam.

3. Add details to the mermaid such as hair and eyes with paint or markers.

4. Tie a scrap of fabric around the mermaids body to create a top. Trim away excess fabric at the back.

5. Glue the fin in place and allow it to dry before playing.
