Mod Podge Art Plaques

Kids love to have their own art displayed around the house and it encourages them to create more to see their masterpieces beautifully displayed. Using inexpensive wood plaques and Mod Podge is a great way to show off their work to its best.

Things you’ll need:
Wood plaques
Acrylic paints
Children’s art
Mod Podge
Foam paintbrushes
Scissors

Things to do:
1. On a covered work surface, lay out the wood plaques and coat with two or three layers of paint. Allow the paint to dry.

2. Cut the art down to fit inside the edges of the plaques and paint a thin layer of Mod Podge over the surface of the painted wood. Smooth the art into place and allow it to dry.

3. If you think the artwork will run, spray with a thin coat of fixative and allow it to dry completely.
4. Paint the entire plaque, including the sides, with Mod Podge, smoothing out any wrinkles as needed. Allow it to dry completely and then repeat with a second coat.

DIY Twine Bottle

I love baker’s twine. It’s all the fault of my local bakery, they are always sending me home with boxes wrapped up in the colorful string and now I’m addicted. And why not, its fun and peppy and colorful, and just the thing to add a little fun to your room.

Things you’ll need:
Empty iced coffee bottles
Mod Podge
Foam brush
Bakers twine

Things to do:
1. Remove all labels and rinse out the bottle. Allow it to dry.

2. Starting at the bottom of the bottle, brush on 1/2 inch of Mod Podge and wrap the twine around, pushing each layer down toward the next as your work toward the neck.

3. Continue to work in 1/2 inch sections until you have reached the neck. Flip the bottle over and continue to work toward the top.
4. When you reach the rim, trim the twine and tuck it up under the edge so that it seems to disappear. Allow the Mod Podge to dry.
