How to Make Your Own Pew Bows

Don’t spend money on expensive pew bows for your upcoming wedding, anniversary celebration, or other special event. This can be mounted as a pew bow or a chair bow. A roll of wide ribbon is all you need to craft an elegant, full, pew bow. This one is long and narrow for vertical placement on the pew or the back of a chair.

Difficulty level: Intermediate
Time required: 30 minutes
Age range: 10+

Things you’ll need:
1 1/2″ wide wired ribbon
Wire
Hot glue gun and hot glue sticks
Scissors

Things to do:
1. Keep the ribbon on the spool. Leave a 20-inch tail and loop a section that’s about 5″ tall.

2. Loop another 5″ section opposite the first loop. Keep holding the ribbon in one hand as you work. This will be the bottom of the pew bow.

3. Create another 5″ loop at the top of the pew bow so there are two 5″ loops at the top, then create a 10″ loop at the bottom. The bottom will now have the tail, a 5″ loop and a 10″ loop.

4. Form a third 5″ loop at the top.

5. At the bottom, make a 13″ loop.

6. Finally, make a fourth 5″ loop at the top.

7. Tie the wire around the center of the bow, in the area between the top four even loops and the bottom longer loops. Leave long sections of wire free at the back so you can tie this onto the pew or chair.

8. Cut a 24″ piece of ribbon and form it into two similar size loops with tails at each end. Warm up your hot glue gun.

9. Wrap the loops around each other to tie a bow.

10. Glue this bow to the center of the other, vertical bow.
