Turn your living space into a cozy log cabin with this vintage tree garland. This project is a great way to reuse your old books, allowing you to transform weathered pages into shabby-chic decor.
Difficulty level: Beginner
Time to complete: 30 Minutes
Age range: 10 and Up
Things you’ll need:
Old book pages
Scissors
Hole punch
Jute
Hot glue gun and glue sticks
Things to do:
1. The first step is cutting out a triangle to use as a pattern for your trees. Rip out a piece of paper from an old book and lightly fold it in half. Cut half of a triangle shape and unfold it to reveal a perfectly symmetrical shape.
2. Trace the triangle shape on a book page and cut it out. You’ll need three triangles for every tree on your garland.
3. Apply a drop of hot glue to the top of a triangle and secure it to the middle of another triangle. Repeat this step until three triangles are attached, forming a tree.
4. Cut out a small rectangle and attach it to the bottom of the tree, making a stump.
5. Punch a hole in the top of the tree.
6. String the trees on your length of garland.
7. Finish your garland by tying a slipknot in both ends of the string. You can hang your garland from these loops.
