DIY Giant Yard Dice

Summer is here! Yay! And that means spending as much time as possible outside, am I right? We love to have people over for backyard BBQ’s and to play games into the evenings and these giant dice are perfect for all sorts of Summer games. Make as many as you need for your favorite games in bright colors to show up against the grass. Be sure to seal your dice with polyurethane if they will be stored outside!

Difficulty level: Easy
Time required: 30 minutes plus dry time

Things you’ll need:
Hollow Wooden Cubes
Acrylic paint in two colors
Paintbrush
Plate or lid for paint
Outdoor sealer
Circle stamp*

Things to do:
1. On a covered work surface, paint the sides of each cube, allowing the sides to dry before flipping the cubes over to paint the bottom side. Repeat until you have a solid coat of paint on all sides.

2. Once the cubes are painted, squirt a dollop of the contrasting color of paint onto your plate or lid.

3. Lightly dip your stamp into the paint and apply dots to each side, following the pattern of a die. Allow the sides to dry before flipping over to add dots to the other side.
4. Once all the dots have been applied, coat each side in polyurethane if desired. Leave the dice to cure until the polyurethane has totally cured.

* If you don’t have a circle stamp handy, you can cut a potato using an apple corer or small round cookie cutter to make an easy circular stamp.
