Liven the table for your outdoor party with this fun and whimsical watermelon jar. Use it to store cutlery or as a vase for some wildflowers.
Difficulty level: Intermediate
Time to complete: 2 hours (includes drying time)
Age range: 10+
Thing you’ll need:
Mason jar
Red paint
Black paint
Light green paint
Darker green paint
White paint
Paint brushes
Jute twine
Things to do:
1. Paint the bottom of the jar with the lighter green paint and allow to dry.
2. Paint the top of the jar with red paint. You’ll need to allow this to dry and then paint a second coat of both the red and the lighter green paint.
3. Make squiggly lines at the bottom with the darker green paint. This will make the bottom look more like a watermelon rind.
4. Paint a line of white or cream paint around the middle.
5. Paint black “seeds” onto the top half of the jar.
6. After the jar is dry, tie the twine around the mouth for added decoration.
