If you live where it snows I bet this has happened to you. There is finally enough snow on the ground for a snowman and your kids (or you!) are dying to run out and make one. But where are his eyes? What do we use as a hat? Are we out of carrots at a time like this? Nip these problems in the bud now and create a fantastic gift for the neighborhood kids by whipping up a few of these Snowman Kits! Most of the snowman’s accessories can be picked up for pennies at thrift stores and garage sales
Things you need (for each kit):
Unfinished Wooden Box
Apple Barrel Acrylic Paint in sky blue, white and assorted colors
Stencil brush
Assorted paint brushes
Letter decals or stamps
1 package black metallic modeling clay
1 plastic carrot (or orange modeling clay)
5 medium red buttons
3 large black buttons
Snowman Top Hat
Scarf
Pipe (optional)
Things you need:
1. Coat the entire box, in and out, with light blue paint. Once dry, use the stencil brush to make a soft and fluffy looking snowman by painting white circles in a dabbing motion. Decorate the rest of the box as desired (snowflakes are fun!)
2. Using the letter decals or stamps, spell out Snowman Kit” on the top of the box.
3. Form the black modeling clay into coal-like lumps and, if necessary, the orange clay into a carrot shape, and bake according to the package directions.
4. Fill the box with the coal, carrot and the rest of the snowman gear and have it ready to go when the flakes start to fall!
