Wood Bead and Fabric Necklace

This project turns a simple piece of fabric and a few wooden beads into an elegant statement necklace in no time flat. Choose thin fabrics like lightweight cotton or reuse a silk scarf for best results. You can use all one size bead or vary the sizes for a different look. Be sure to tighten the knots well so the beads stay in place as the necklace is worn.

Difficulty level: Easy
Time required: 15 minutes

Things you’ll need:
Wooden beads
Fabric or scarf

Things to do:
1. Fold your fabric or scarf so that it makes a long, 3 inch wide tube. The length of the fabric depends on how long you want your necklace. Determine the length you want and then add 1/3 more when cutting or choosing your fabric.

2. Fold the tube in half to find the center and then tie one very tight knot at that point.

3. Wrap one bead with the fabric close to the knot, once wrapped, twist the other side of the fabric and push the bead even closer to the knot. Tie another knot as close to the other side of the bead as you can.

4. Repeat this process with more beads, working out from the center, until you have used up the fabric or created the look you want. Tie the ends of the fabric together to wear the necklace.
