Vintage Doily Arrangement Wall Hanging Tutorial

Difficulty level: Beginner
Time required: 30-45 minutes
Age range: 12 and up

Things you’ll need:
Ecru oblong crochet doily
Sewing pins
Sewing machine or sewing needle and thread
Jute twine
Scissors
Wire cutters
Dark Green Artificial Eucalyptus Spray
2 floral foam blocks
Mauve mum
White rose bush

Things to do:
1. Fold the doily in half, bringing the shorter ends together. Using sewing pins, pin the edges together.

2. Using either a sewing machine or a sewing needle and thread, sew the two edges together about 1″ in from the edge. If you’re using a sewing machine, set your stitch length to a shorter length (we used 2.0). Be mindful as you’re sewing and be sure that the delicate doily doesn’t get caught in the sewing machine foot.

3. Using the wire cutters, cut stems from each floral piece that you plan to use. Don’t worry about not cutting enough; you can always cut more later if you want to add additional flowers or greenery.

4. Insert the two foam blocks inside the doily.

5. Begin adding floral stems to the foam blocks, pushing them firmly into the blocks. Try to vary the height of each stem.

6. Continue to add floral and greenery to the foam block until you’re happy with the arrangement.

7. Cut a 50″ length of twine. Thread the twine through the doily near the front corner, then knot one end securely.

8. Thread the other end of the twine through the doily on the opposite side, this time on the back. Knot the end securely.

9. If you’d like, fold the doily down in the front to reveal more of your floral stems. Hang the arrangement on a door knob or on the wall.
