Upcycled Rustic Burlap and Lace Planter

Spring means time to plant flowers! If it’s a bit early where you live, you can create this with faux flowers to brighten up your home in anticipation of the day when you can bring cut flowers inside. But if it’s time to plant, this is a perfectly adorable container for a small plant or bouquet.

Difficulty level: Easy
Time required: 1 hour (includes drying time)
Age range: 10+

Things you’ll need:
Burlap and lace ribbon
Acrylic paint
Paint brush
Artificial tulip
Sheet moss
Scissors
Hot glue gun and hot glue sticks
28-ounce aluminum can
Sheet of newspaper or other filler for the can

Things to do:
1. Clean your can and peel off the paper. After it’s clean and dry, paint with one coat of paint. It’s okay to allow some of the aluminum to show through – this gives it a rustic appeal.

2. Allow the can to dry.

3. Hot glue the burlap ribbon around the center.

4. Fill the can with dirt if you’re doing an actual planting, or fill with newspaper or another filling if you’re adding faux flowers. If you’re adding faux flowers, top it off with the dried sheet moss.
