Upcycle: Paper Clip Earrings


Paper clip earrings make it easy for you to create bohemian earrings with just a few simple materials. Create this summer accessory set in a breeze and pair with your favorite maxi dress. Do not be surprised when your friends ask you to make them a pair. Use different colors of embroidery floss and string patterns to create countless earring designs.

Difficulty level: Intermediate

Things you’ll need:
Paper clips
Earring hooks
Embroidery floss
Craft glue
Jewelry pliers

Things to do:
1. Open your paper clip and bend the ends together so that you create an isosceles triangle shape with your paper clip. Make sure to round the corners so that your paper clip triangle looks even.
2. Tie one end of your embroidery floss around your paper clip triangle. Glue in place to secure and let dry.
3. Begin wrapping your embroidery floss around your paper clip until the whole triangle is covered.
4. Tie the end of your floss around your paper clip triangle and glue in place to secure. Let dry.
5. Begin creating your design by wrapping your floss around your paper clip triangle in a zig-zag pattern. (You may also wrap your string across your triangle in stripes, alternate embroidery floss colors, etc.)
6. When you are satisfied with your design, tie your floss around your triangle, cut off extra floss, and glue into place. Let dry.
7. Use your jewelry pliers to open your earring hooks.
8. Slip your paper clip triangles onto your earring hooks and use your jewelry pliers to close your earring hooks.
9. Slip your new earrings on and pair with trendy accessories and a cute bohemian dress!
