Upcycle Old Crayons into Heart Crayons!

Heart_Crayons
I’m going to be honest, I love candy, but by the time Valentines day rolls around, I’m sort of candied-out, especially when it comes to the kids. We are usually still trying to get rid of Halloween and Christmas candy by the beginning of February so we really don’t need any more hanging around. Which is why I like to find Valentines gifts for my family and friends that do not involve sweets but still show them I love them, and this year the kids in my life (both mine and my friends) will be getting some sweet little crayons in their Valentines bags.

Things you need:
Crayons, new or old (any colors really but it’s fun to stick with reds, pinks and whites)
Heart shaped candy mold or ice cube tray
Old saucepan
Dowel Rods

Things to do:
1. Peel off any paper from the crayons. Break them up in chunks and separate them by color. (in general, all the reddish, all the pinkish, all the whitish, they can be mixed)
2. Starting with the lightest color, melt the crayons, one color at a time in the pot. Melt on low heat, stirring with the dowel rod.
3. When the crayons are melted and smooth, pour into the molds. Add the next darkest color and repeat the process until you have used up all of the crayons.

4. Allow the wax to harden before popping out of the molds. Package up in cute bags with a small notebook for doodling.
