Quick and Easy Painted Mason Jar Tutorial

Acrylic paints are so versatile – did you know they easily paint onto glass? With this method you can create a strike of color on a glass jar, or paint neat strips…whatever you’d like. When filled with flowers or twigs, this makes a beautiful part of any type of decor, by adding a splash of color where needed!

Difficulty level: Easy
Time required: 1 hour
Age range: 10+

Things you’ll need:
Clear mason jar
Acrylic paint
Paint brush
Painter’s tape
Paper plate

Things to do:
1. Decide on a pattern for your jar. Then tape off the area that you don’t want to paint over. In this example I’m adding a triangle of color on the front of the jar.

2. Here’s the jar after taping off a triangle.

3. Squeeze a bit of paint onto the paper plate. Start painting your color between your taped sections.

4. Finish one coat and let the paint dry.

5. Once dry, apply a second coat of paint for good coverage.

6. Once all the paint is dry, carefully remove the tape. Acrylic paint can pull and stretch, so it’s crucial to remove the tape slowly, and be ready to touch up any paint as needed. Now all you have to do is fill your jar and display it!
