Peppermint Candy Ornaments


It’s holiday time! Which means, if you live anywhere cold, that there will be many days ahead where the kids are stuck inside and need fun activities to keep them busy. These candy ornaments are always a hit and make a great gift for friends as well as looking cute on your tree. While we used peppermint candies here, any hard candy will work so create away!

Difficulty level: Easy, but requires adult to do the baking
Time required: 10 minutes plus baking and cooling time

Things you’ll need:
Metal cookie cutters
Hard candies
Parchment paper
Baking sheet
Toothpick
Baking spray

Things to do:
1. Spray the inside of your cookie cutters with baking spray.

2. Lay out your cookie cutters on your parchment covered baking sheet.
3. Preheat your oven to 350.
4. Fill the inside of your cookie cutters with candies. If necessary, break candies up to fill the smaller spaces.

5. Bake in the oven until the candies are melted, about 15 minutes.
6. Pull out and immediately poke holes in the top of the candy shapes.
7. Allow the candy to harden and then pop out of the cookie cutters. Strung with ribbon and hang.

  1. Thinking butterscotch candies for ginger bread and creative with mixed bag of hard candies (multi color). This id brilliant. Protect with finish (or bring out ants?) if not finished, edible? Microwave in candy molds (needs to get too hot?) Silicone molds would work in oven.
