Paracord Techniques: Solomon Bar


The Solomon Bar is a one color knotting technique suitable for any thickness of paracord. This is a great beginner project and the end loop makes it suitable for fobs, cord ends and lanyard as well as bracelets and other projects.

Difficulty level: Easy
Time required: 15 minutes

Things you need:
Parachute cordcolors of your choice

Things to do:
1. Begin by laying your cord into an M shape. The center dip of the M will be the finished length of your project so adjust this dimension accordingly.

2. Flip the work so that the center dip and facing up. Cross the two tails, one over and one under the center legs and draw them through the opposite loops.

3. Pull to tighten.

4. With the knot down, again cross the tails, one over and one under, the center legs and out through the opposite loops.Pull to tighten.

5. Repeat this process until you reach the end of the tails. Trim and singe the ends to secure.

  1. I enjoy learning new things and sometimes relearning after along time of not doing a skill. It may be clearer if the string of new work doing not etc were in two colors and work done in 3rd color. In this way the string will show up the skill clearer.
