Pretty Paper Candy Tubes from Upcycled Magazines

If candy making is in your Holiday cookie repertoire or you plan on handing out little treats to lots of folks, these little paper cones make the perfect package for sweet gifts. Reminiscent of the paper cones Victorian’s filled with hot chestnuts and festive Christmas crackers, they can be made of wrapping paper scraps or pretty pages from holiday magazines and take just moments to whip up.

Things you need:
Rectangular pieces of festive paper (8×10 makes a nice sized tube)
Sewing machine
Red thread
Scissors

Things to do:
1. Fold, but do not crease, the paper lengthwise and stitch down along the edge with a 1/4 inch seam allowance.

2. Stitch along the bottom of the tube to close off one end.

3. Fill with candy and treats.

4. Fold the top (open) end the opposite way that the bottom is stitched to create the twisted look of the tube and stitch closed. Trim all threads and any uneven edges on the paper.
