Mini Basket Advent Calendar

There’s nothing like an advent calendar to help count down the days till Christmas. My kids look forward to them every year and we are a little Advent Calendar mad in our house, one (or two, or three) is never enough, so I’m always finding ways to make more. This year we’ve got this beauty. Simple and stylish, it takes up only a little bit of wall space and can be filled with candies, stickers or wee little ornaments for their mini trees. Look for thin, lightweight plywood or heavy duty foam core for your base, you don’t want something too heavy but it should be sturdy enough to hold the baskets and the treats inside.

Time required: 1 hour
Difficulty level: moderate

Things you’ll need:
Thin plywood
Saw
Green paint and paint brush
24 Mini baskets
Arrow tags
Washi tape
Hot temp glue gun and glue sticks
Scissors

Things to do:
1. Cut, or have cut at your local building center, a triangle that is roughly 20 inches high and 20 inches wide at the base.
2. Paint the triangle green with several thin coats of paint. Allow the paint to dry thoroughly.

3. Using the hot temp glue (which holds better than low temp) secure the baskets in a tiered fashion to the tree, making sure they are evenly spaced.

4. Number the arrow tags 1-24 and add a washi tape accent to the tips.

5. Glue the tags onto the front of the basket and fill the baskets with treats for your little ones!
