Metallic Alphabet Letters

As a interior design junkie, I love my living spaces to display my style. As a mom, I want to create a fun and cheerful place my family calls home. Sometimes, these two goals don’t mesh well. A perfect example? Alphabet Magnets. I’ve spent almost a decade with letter magnets adorning my fridge and while their bright, crazy colors aren’t my favorite decorating item, I’ve accepted that they are necessary (and pretty fun too). But this project takes away all my reservations on the subject of Alphabet magnets. So much so that, even as my kids grow out of them, I think they’ll be sticking around for a few more years, they are just too pretty to put away!

Difficulty level: Moderate
Time required: 20 minutes, plus dry time

Things you’ll need:
Alphabet letters
Metallic Spray Paint in gold, silver or brass, which ever looks best with your kitchen fixtures.
Cardboard box

Things to do:
1. Place the box, open end up, in a well-ventilated area.

2. Lay the letters out with a little space in between each of them in the bottom of the box. The box creates an ideal spray painting area keeping overspray from getting on the surrounding surfaces.

3. Lightly spray a coat of paint onto the letters. Allow the coat to dry completely before reapplying. Repeat this process until the letters are well covered.

4. Let the paint cure overnight before using.
