Melted Pony Bead Hair Clips

My little girl loves to wear hair-clips and so I’m always on the hunt for something fun for her locks. These pony bead clips are my new favorites. Not only are they colorful and pretty (one of her main requirements) but she can help me make them and create just the pattern and shape she wants. The perfect rainy day project!

Difficulty level: Easy, requires use of an oven so adult supervision is recommended
Time to complete: 30 minutes

Things you’ll need:
Pony Beads
Hair Clips
Foil
Baking pan
Oven
Oven Mitts
E6000 glue

Things to do:
1. Preheat the oven to 475 and line a baking pan with foil.
2. Arrange beads to create flowers, hearts or rainbows, leaving plenty of room between each.

3. Slide the pan into the oven and bake for 10-15 minutes or until the beads have melted.
4. Pull from the oven carefully wearing your oven mitts and allow the beads to cool before peeling them off.

5. Glue the backside of the bead shapes to the flat of a hair clip and allow the glue to dry completely before using.

Note: We suggest doing this project outside due to the possible fumes. We recommend using your toaster oven or a gas grill to melt the beads. If you decide to do this project inside, make sure to ventilate well.

  1. Did these today with seniors that have dementia. They were great! Thanks for the idea.

  2. This is awesome!
This is exactly what I was looking for. It works great for slime. I would recommend this to any moms who have the slime obsessed daughters like I do. Not too big, not too small and there is plenty for several different batches.
    Hope this helps,
