Melted Bead Ornaments

Kids love to make their own ornaments for the Christmas tree and these melted bead ones are a fantastic way to keep them busy on a cold winters day. Because this requires the use of an oven, children will need adult supervision but will have lots of fun filling shapes with beads before it’s time to put them in the oven. Be sure to pierce holes for the string as soon as you pull the tray out of the oven before the plastic starts to harden again.

Difficulty level: Easy but requires adult supervision
Time required: 15 minutes plus cooling time.

Things you’ll need:
Pony beads
Cookie cutters
Parchment paper
Cookie sheet
Skewer or dowel rod
Embroidery thread and scissors
Hot pads

Things to do:
1. Cover your cookie sheet with parchment paper.
2. Preheat your oven to 450 degrees
3. Set cookie cutters onto the paper and allow the kids to fill them in with the beads, making different patterns.

4. Slide the cookie sheet into the oven and bake for 15 minutes of until the beads have melted.
5. Pull the sheet out and immediately pierce holes in the melted beads with the skewer.

6. Allow the plastic to cool before popping them out of the cookie cutters and threading embroidery thread through to create loops.
