Loop Potholder Loom – Uneven Weaving Technique

Once you’ve mastered the basics of loop loom weaving, it’s time to branch out to create interesting patterns and textures! This technique creates an uneven weave, with thin and thick sections that makes for a more interesting look for your potholders.

Difficulty level: Easy
Time required: 20 minutes

Things you’ll need:
Loop loom
Loops

Things to do:
1. Start by stretching loops across the loom, placing a loop on every other peg.

2. Once one direction of loops is filled it’s time to start weaving. Each loop has two pieces of fabric, where you would usually weave these together, this technique splits them up to create color variation and an offset weave.
3. Start by bringing your crochet hook under just half of the first loop, then take it over the second half of the first and the first half of the second loop. Continue to weave in and out, pairing up one half of one loop with one half of the next.

4. Repeat on the next row, this time switching your over-unders. Continue to work your way down the loom in this manner, creating that off-set weave.
5. As with the basic potholder weaving, finish the project by hooking the first loop at one corner off the peg and onto your hook. Slip the next loop onto the hook and bring the first over the top of the second and off of the crochet hook. Repeat, working your way around, pulling the last loop through tightly to use as the hanging hook.
