Lighted Grapevine Balls

Decorative balls are one of the easiest, and most versatile accent for your home decor. They can be moved, changed and combined to create different looks, which is why I’m a big fan of them. In this project we turn a simple set of grapevine balls, beautiful in their own right, into lit balls to create a pretty and romantic look.

Things you’ll need:
4-inch grapevine balls
Brown wired string lights. A 20-light string is adequate for four balls.

Things to do:
1. Remove all tags from the balls and trim any stray twigs.

2. Starting at the end opposite the plug, carefully push the first five lights and the wire that connects them into one of the spaces between the vines.

3. Press the next five lights into a second ball, leaving the wire between the two balls un-tucked in so that you can maneuver the balls into place.
4. Continue to add lights to the balls until they are all filled Use the wire tail to lead to the outlet and plug it in, arranging the balls in a bowl to mask the wire.

Note: If you are concerned about the heat coming from your string of lights, we recommend using a set of LED string lights for safety.

  1. I love this idea. My daughter is getting married next July and we are doing a vintage/primitive theme. These would look nice with white grapevine balls with the white lights. I thing I have a wedding project ahead for myself. Thanks for the great idea!
