How to Make Pompom Cupcakes

Difficulty level: Beginner
Time required: 30 minutes
Age range: 8 and up, with adult supervision for hot glue gun

Things you’ll need:
Cupcake liners
Yarn
65 mm pompom maker
Pink pompom
Scissors
Hot glue gun and glue sticks

Things to do:

  1. Connect the pompom maker, if it’s not already connected. Begin wrapping the yarn around one half of the open circle.
  2. Wrap until the circle is full and even. Close the circle into the pompom maker.
  3. Wrap the opposite side of the pompom maker, wrapping so that the other side is even with the first side. Close the circle, then trim the yarn.
  4. Cut both sides of the pompom loops.
  5. Cut a 6-8″ strand of yarn, then double knot the strand around the center of the pompom.
  6. Pull the pompom maker apart to remove the pompom.
  7. Trim the pompom so that it is even and has no stray pieces.
  8. Add a few dots of hot glue to the bottom of the cupcake liner.
  9. Place the pompom into the cupcake liner. If the pompom is overflowing or looks uneven, you can trim the pompom to fit.
  10. As a final touch, hot glue a small pompom on the top center of the pompom.
