How to Make a Springtime Ribbon Tulip Hair Clip


Think spring with this easy and whimsical ribbon tulip clip. You can add this to a barrette, or to a pinback to pin on your winter coat. This tutorial demonstrates a 3″ tulip, but feel free to experiment with different sizes!

Time required: 30 minutes
Age range: 10+

Things you’ll need:
Yellow, red or orange grosgrain ribbon
Green organza ribbon
Barrettes
Scissors
Hot glue gun and hot glue sticks

Things to do:
1. Warm up your hot glue gun and hot glue. Cut your flower petal ribbon into three, 4″ strips, and the green ribbon into one 6″ strip.

2. Fold the petal ribbon into the shapes as shown, and hot glue each one at the base.

3. Glue two petals together as shown.

4. Glue the third petal behind the first two petals.

5. Loop the green ribbon about an inch from one end as shown.

6. Loop the other end of the green ribbon as shown, and glue into place. Trim the bow tails as desired.

7. Trim the ends off the flower so the edge is neat.

8. Hot glue a piece of green ribbon to the barrette or pin back.

9. Glue the three petals to the top of the clip.

10. Finish by gluing the green bow under the petals.
