How to Hand Letter on Glass Tutorial

True hand lettering is something of a lost art form. It takes a steady hand and a good eye and, frankly some serious artistic skill. Which is too bad because it looks amazing on all sorts of things. Thankfully there are some tricks to getting a hand lettered look on different surfaces with much less skill and effort. Here, for example, you can write on glass in whatever font you desire, with just a simple little trick to help you out.

Difficulty level: moderate
Time required: 20 minutes

Things you’ll need:
Glass or jar
Paper and access to computer and printer
Glass or porcelain pens
Masking tape
Scissors

Things to do:
1. Using your computer and printer, print out the words you want in the font you want the size that will fit on your jar.

2. Trim the paper to fit inside your jar. Center the words where you want them on the glass and secure with masking tape so the words are pressed right up against the backside of the glass.

3. Using the porcelain or glass marker, trace the letters on the front side of the glass using the printed words as a guide.
4. Cure the ink according to the manufacturers directions.
