Felt and Pinecone Owl Tutorial

This cute woodland creature will enchant your children. Cut out the felt shapes, hand them a bottle of craft glue and let them create their own owl.

Difficulty level: Beginner
Time to complete: 15 Minutes
Age range: 10 and Up *Younger children may need assistance with hot glue.

Things you’ll need:
Small pinecone
Felt sheets
Googly eyes
Hot glue gun and glue sticks or craft glue
Scissors
Sharpie
Pipe cleaner

Things to do:
1. The first thing you’ll want to do is cut out your felt shapes. You’ll need two wings, two small circles, and a small triangle. To cut the wing shape, fold a sheet of felt in half to create a perfectly symmetrical wing. Once you’ve found a shape you like, trace it on a piece of felt so both of your wings match.

2. Next, you’re going to attach the felt sheets to the pinecone using hot glue or craft glue. Attach a wing to either side of the pinecone and the circles and beak to the front. Let the glue dry completely.

3. Use hot glue or craft glue to add googly eyes to the felt circles.

4. The final step is making feet for your owl. Cut six 1/2-inch pieces of pipe cleaner. Use hot glue or craft glue to attach three together, making one foot. Once the glue has dried, secure it to the bottom of your pinecone. Repeat this step to make the other foot.
