Felt Flower Pin Tutorial


Every girl loves to get dressed up with pretty accessories. Lapel pins are a great addition to your accessory collection, because they can be worn in so many different ways. Pin them onto a headband, purse or a jacket for added charm and style. These felt flowers also make the perfect gift, because they are cute, fun and show off your crafting abilities. Make them for your daughter or granddaughter to use for dress up and everyday wear. Everyone is sure to love these felt flower pins!

Age range: 13 and up

Things you’ll need:
Felt squares
Scissors
Craft Glue
Black Embroidery Floss
Thread
Bar Pins
Ruler

Things to do:
1. Mark the felt 1 1/2″ wide by 12″ long and cut out the strip.


2. Fold the strip in half the long way and sew up the open edge.

3. Cut into your felt strip to make the petals.

4. Cut out a circle that is 1 1/2″ to make the center of your flower.

5. Sew the strip of flower petals around the center circle.

6. Use all six strands of the embroidery floss to create an outline on the center of your flower. Stitch around the outside edge.
7. Cut two leaves out of green fabric that measure roughly 1″.

8. Attach leaves to the back of your flower with thread.

9. Cut out a circle that is 1 1/2″ to sew onto the back of your flower to cover the stitching. Attach with thread.


10. Glue a bar pin to the back of your flower. For a stronger hold, sew the bar pin on to the back of your flower with thread.
