DIY Wood Bead Trivet

Now that the cold winter has arrived, we’re eating lots of warm dishes and drinking hot drinks at our house which means our hotpads and trivets are working overtime to keep our countertops and tables scar free. This bright and friendly trivet is quick to make and customizable depending on what color beads and ribbon you use. It’s also a great kid project for holiday gifts for parents or grandparents.

Difficulty level: Easy
Time required: 10 minutes or less

Things you’ll need:
Ribbon
Wooden beads
Scissors

Things to do:
1. Decide on the size of the trivet you want. Larger pots will need larger trivets. These are great small trivets that can be hung on a hook when not in use, but work as large ones as well. Cut a piece of ribbon about 4 inches longer than the circumference you want for the trivet.

2. String enough beads onto the ribbon to create that circumference. You’ll need the excess ribbon for tying.

3. Push the beads tightly together and tie the ends of the ribbon so that you have a tight, rigid loop of beads.

4. Knot the ribbon securely and trim the ends of the ribbon.
