DIY Swirly Felt Pom Poms

I must admit that I’m something of a pompom addict. I love them! In all sizes and in all sorts of applications. While these aren’t strictly your traditional pompoms they are a fun play on the idea and so very pretty! These use wooden beads for easy stringing, but you can also use simple wooden balls or, for a lighter finished pompom, small Styrofoam balls. Scale these up by increasing the size of the bead and of the felt circles.

Difficulty level: Moderate
Time required: 45 minutes

Things you’ll need:
Felt
Glass or cup
Pencil
Scissors
Hot glue gun and glue sticks
1-inch wooden beads

Things to do:
1. Using your glass as a template, trace circles onto the felt. You’ll need about 25 per pompom.

2. Cut the circles out of the felt.

3. Fold a circle in half, and then in thirds.

4. Using the glue gun, add a dollop of glue to the point of the wedge. Press the point onto the bead. Repeat until the whole bead is covered, making sure to leave the holes uncovered. You’ll want to place them as close together as possible to create a dense look.
