DIY Stuffed Fabric Pumpkins Tutorial

These darling pumpkins make the perfect Halloween or Thanksgiving decor! Play around with different patterns and prints to make a set that complements your home decor.

Difficulty level: Beginner
Time to complete: 30 minutes
Age range: 12 and up

Things you’ll need:
Fabric
Scissors
Jute
Wired jute
Burlap squares
Filler (cotton, rice, etc.)

Things to do:
1. First, cut a 14 x 14 inch square of fabric.

2. Fill your fabric square with cotton or your choice of filler. For my pumpkins, I used rice.

3. Cut an 8-inch piece of jute.
4. Pull the sides of your fabric square up towards the center and tie your jute tightly around them to hold them in place. This will create your pumpkin!

5. Trim the fabric to create an even top.

6. Fold your burlap square in half and cut a half circle out of the center. Slide it carefully over the top of your pumpkin.
7. Cut five pieces of jute, all measuring roughly 2 1/2 feet, and knot the ends together.

8. Spread the tails of your knotted jute out and place the pumpkin on the center.
9. Pull your jute tails up, two at a time, wrap them around the top of your pumpkin and knot them in place. Repeat this step until all jute tails are knotted. Trim any excess.

10. To complete your pumpkin, cut off an 8-inch piece of wired ribbon, wrap it around your finger to create a spiral curl, and secure it on the top of your pumpkin by wrapping it around the stem.
